Background
Believe it or not, I am a Gwinnett County native! Born, raised, and educated right here in Lawrenceville! I attended Cedar Hill, Richards Middle, and Central Gwinnett. During my high school career, I played softball and ran track.
The first two years of college, I decided to stay home and work while attending Georgia Perimeter College. Even though my goal was to become an auto mechanic, I found my true calling to be teaching! For my last two years, I found residence in Carrolton at the University of West Georgia. There, I received my bachelor's in Early Education in 2007.
That same year, I began at Taylor in fourth grade! In 2009, I finished my masters program in Reading and Literacy with Walden University. Since, I have also pursued my Gifted Endorsement through Gwinnett County in order to learn more about challenging my students and extending our curriculum.
More About Me
Robert and I were married in March of 2011, and are proud parents to our daughter, Esmae Leigh!
Teaching Career
Taylor has been my home for eight years now! Before I became the Literacy Support Teacher, I taught fourth grade for seven years. I was able to experiment with many teaching techniques, refine crafts for reading and writing, and discover what really motivates students to learn. In the 2013-2014 school year, I was awarded the highest honor at Taylor by being named Teacher of the Year. The title meant so much to me, and I value the opportunities I was given. I look forward to a new experience here at Taylor, and will support our students and teachers in any way I can.
